Chapter History
Our chapter was organized in 1996 by Dr. Lee Church, who was the first president, and 24 others. We were certified on January 9, 1997 after holding our first election in late November 1996. We began as USABDA, pronounced "You-Sahb-Dah," or United States Amateur Ballroom Dancers Association, which was eventually changed to USA Dance. The dances were first held in the Willis Building. When the Willis Building underwent renovation, ECU no longer allowed us to rent that facility. We moved to the Pitt County Senior Center on County Home Road for the Summer and the Boys and Girls Club in North Pitt County. Then we split between the Moose Club and the Zone in Winterville for the summer and winter, respectively. Then in April, 2011, we moved to the Masonic Temple in downtown Greenville. Finally, in October 2011, we moved to the Lakeforest Elementary School, where we hope to stay.
